Clinical Outcomes of Surgical Treatment for Crohn's Disease‐Associated Duodenal Fistulas
Duodenal fistulas associated with Crohn's disease (CD) are extremely rare, with a reported incidence of only 0.5%-2%. Most arise secondarily from adjacent diseased bowels, such as the ileocecal region, transverse colon, or previous anastomotic sites. Because available reports are limited, the optimal surgical strategy remains unclear. Surgical management generally involves resection of the diseased bowel and appropriate repair of the duodenal defect, with decompression when appropriate.
