Persistência da doença de Chagas em comunidades brasileiras socialmente vulneráveis

Chagas disease is an infection with a chronic prognosis with the etiological agent Trypanosoma cruzi and is transmitted vectorially by Triatoma infestans, or Barbeiro. Furthermore, it can also be spread via transfusion, transplacentation and oral route, which occurs through the ingestion of food contaminated by the feces of the infected vector. In Brazil, this chronic condition is endemic and continues to persist, which is why it is necessary to discuss and understand the problem, especially in vulnerable communities. For this purpose, a bibliographical research was carried out in order to analyze the topic. From this perspective, it was observed that the typical profile of patients with this parasitic disease is closely related to their way of life and socioeconomic reality. Also, in several cases it is neglected by the competent authorities, who have difficulty in epidemiological mapping of the disease, and do not offer adequate training for health professionals to deal with the infestation correctly. In this sense, this reflects on the population's knowledge about the disease and makes it difficult to take prophylactic measures, diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, combating American Trypanosomiasis becomes a difficult task, given the numerous factors that are still faced to eradicate it and ensure good survival for chronic carriers.
