A Transcendental Composite-Representing Constant

We define a constant by a convergent double series that does not use primenumbers, composite numbers, or primality tests. An exact recurrence associatedwith the constant lists the odd composite numbers in increasing order and recoverstheir numbers of nontrivial ordered factorizations. We also prove that the constantis a Liouville number and therefore transcendental.

Abstract

We define a constant by a convergent double series that does not use primenumbers, composite numbers, or primality tests. An exact recurrence associatedwith the constant lists the odd composite numbers in increasing order and recoverstheir numbers of nontrivial ordered factorizations. We also prove that the constantis a Liouville number and therefore transcendental.
