El arte y el translanguaging como contracartografías de la migración: Aportes de un proyecto COIL

This article analyzes a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) experience implemented in 2021 between Universidad Católica de Santa Fe (Argentina) and California State University–Monterey Bay (United States). Through translanguaging and the use of art as a pedagogical medium, students created collaborative visual narratives on migration. The study situates itself within debates on the ethics of representing migrants in contemporary art, drawing on T. J. Demos (migrant images), Miguel Ángel Hernández-Navarro (out-of-sync temporalities), Édouard Glissant (the right to opacity), and Jacques Rancière (the redistribution of the sensible). The methodology combines visual, textual, and performative analysis of student outputs (collages, digital curations, visual metaphors, and interviews), interpreted as counter-cartographies of migration. Findings show how art and translanguaging destabilize stigmatizing regimes of representation, enabling zones of opacity and agency in transnational educational contexts. The article concludes that such collaborative practices offer critical models to rethink the relationship between art, migration, and pedagogy in turbulent times.
