MICROFIELDS "WINTER" AND "SPRING" IN THE POETRY OF F. I. TYUTCHEV
Drawing on the poetry of the eminent Russian poet F. I. Tyutchev, the article examines the microfields “winter” and “spring” within the semantic field “seasons of the year”. The analysis rests on a field model that assumes the identification of a core zone, a near periphery and a far periphery of the respective microfields. Lexical units are distributed across these zones, and the dictionary and contextual meanings of the lexemes of the microfields, as well as the semantic structure of their groups, are described. The study focuses on the direct nominations of the seasons and their derivatives, the vocabulary of the near periphery, the figurative-associative units of the far periphery, the collocability of the lexemes, and their functioning in contexts of the transition from winter to spring. Statistical analysis is applied, which points to a regularity in the distribution of lexical units across the zones. It is established that the vocabulary of the winter microfield is predominantly associated with statics, immobility and fading, whereas the vocabulary of the spring microfield is associated with movement, awakening, sound and renewal. At the same time, the core nominations in Tyutchev’s idiolect possess individual authorial semes, while the boundary between the microfields in the poetic text proves to be a transitional zone.
