Estrategias de rehabilitación en pacientes con secuelas respiratorias post COVID-19 en América Latina.

The sequelae of COVID-19 have had a profound effect on the health of millions of patients, causing problems ranging from respiratory alterations and muscle weakness to psychological disorders. These sequelae are highly heterogeneous and negatively affect multiple biological systems, although dyspnea is a frequent symptom. The objective of our study was to analyze the impact of rehabilitation strategies in patients with post-COVID-19 respiratory sequelae in the southern region of Manabí. Strategy: A descriptive study with a documentary design was conducted through a systematic literature review. Results: The results show that dyspnea was the most frequently reported symptom, appearing in six of the ten studies analyzed. After dyspnea, decreased lung capacity, persistent cough, and functional alterations in the respiratory system were also found. Some of the most common strategies include early mobilization, breathing exercises, therapeutic education, progressive physical training, respiratory physiotherapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, muscle strengthening, and bronchial hygiene techniques. Conclusion: These results support the application of personalized and early respiratory rehabilitation protocols as part of the comprehensive care of patients with post-COVID-19 sequelae, particularly in healthcare facilities in southern Manabí.
