Dakwah Multikultural dan Perkembangan Identitas Islam Global: Analisis Integratif Antara Budaya dan Agama

Globalization and the development of communication technology expand intercultural interaction and bring Muslims into contact with diverse values, traditions, and ways of life. This context shapes Islamic identity while requiring da’wah practices that can adapt to an increasingly plural global society without losing their orientation toward Islamic values. This study aims to analyze multicultural da’wah in the development of global Islamic identity, explain the processes of forming and negotiating Islamic identity amid the dynamics of globalization, and analyze the role of intercultural communication and cultural da’wah as mechanisms that bridge Islam's universal values with society's cultural diversity. The study uses a qualitative library research approach. Data were obtained from books, scholarly journals, academic articles, and various publications relevant to multicultural da’wah, intercultural communication, culture, and Islamic identity. The findings show that the relationship between multicultural da’wah and the development of global Islamic identity comprises: (1) multicultural da’wah as a mechanism of negotiation between Islamic values and global realities; (2) globalization as a space for the formation and transformation of Muslim identity; (3) hybridity as a form of identity negotiation that brings together local, global, social, and religious elements; and (4) the integration of religion and culture and cross-cultural communication as the operational mechanisms of multicultural da’wah. These four aspects show that global Islamic identity develops not uniformly but dynamically through selection, adaptation, and negotiation, without losing its orientation toward Islamic values. The study offers novelty by integrating multicultural da’wah, intercultural communication, and Social Identity Theory to explain the relationship between da’wah practice and the formation of Islamic identity amid globalization. Its practical implication is to provide a framework for preachers (da’i) and da’wah institutions to develop inclusive, adaptive, and contextual da’wah strategies through improved cultural literacy, cross-cultural communication competence, and the use of digital media in multicultural societies.
