MONITORING THE REHABILITATION PROCESS USING A SMART ELECTRONIC TOOL FOR IMPLEMENTING THE PUSH & RELEASE TEST

Introduction. The modernization of monitoring procedures is recognized as critical to improving the objectivity and effectiveness of rehabilitation interventions in the physical education of students with disabilities. The purpose of the study was to develop and conduct experimental and metrological testing of smart electronic system for monitoring the rehabilitation process of students with disabilities following blast-induced traumatic brain injury. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted in three consecutive stages: theoretical justification; the development of a smart electronic system pedagogical experiment and data processing using mathematical statistics methods. The study involved first-year students (28 males) with disabilities following a blast traumatic brain injury, who were enrolled in a physical education course lasting one academic semester. The Push & Release Test was used to collect empirical data. Results. The study aims to develop an intelligent electronic system for the objective monitoring of the P&R Test, particularly those parameters that cannot be recorded visually. An intelligent electronic system has been developed and tested, consisting of a sensor module (a smart IMU sensor based on a microcontroller, accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer), an impact force and alignment measurement module (a strain gauge platform with four high-precision strain sensors), an intelligent data processing unit with an Arduino microcontroller, and a personal computer with real-time wireless signal transmission. The system’s functional components were modeled in Python using artificial intelligence algorithms to automate the analysis and prediction of students’ functional status from test results. The implementation of neural network-based artificial intelligence algorithms enabled the automatic classification of movement patterns and the highly accurate prediction of students’ functional status following a mild traumatic brain injury. A virtual reality interface is integrated into the system, creating a «virtual mirror» effect for interactive feedback. Empirical and metrological validation of the system confirmed its high reliability (ICC – 0.844) and validity (ICC – 0.521) compared to traditional expert assessment reliability (ICC – 0.506) and validity (ICC – 0.188) by an examiner. Conclusions. The developed digital system provides examiners with qualitative and quantitative data, minimizes the «human factor», and significantly improves the effectiveness of monitoring the rehabilitation process of students with blast TBI during a university physical education course.
