One Wave, Many Shores: Drones, Asteroid Belts, and the Colonization of Space
A synopsis placing two applications of the Fisher-Morningstar Wave diffusion Method - the third Method of Socioeconomic Biology - on the public record. Read as a general law of propogation, the wave governs anything that strays locally and multiplies faster where it is rare: genes, species, epidemic fronts, autocatalitic reactions, settlements. For engineered self-replicating systems, behavior is steered by a single declared quantity, the allocation dial - the fraction of gathered material given to propagation versus yield, with maximum spread and maximum profit at its two ends. The synopsis applies the dial to a self-replicating drone wavefront clearing or mining an asteroid belt, and to the colonisation of space and the planets it contains; where the same dial appears in human form: how much of a young settlement's surplus founds daughters, and how much builds at home.
