Spectrophotometric Estimation of Sulfanilamide with P-Hydroxy Benzaldehyde

A yellow colored dye compound was formed through adding sulfanilamide (SFN) to P-hydroxy benzaldehyde (PHB) via condensation reaction in acidic medium, which shows maximum absorption (λmax) at 375 nm. Sulfanilamide concentration was determined by spectrophotometric mode. The experimental variables affecting colour development were optimized, and the analytical performance of the proposed method was evaluated. Beer’s law toed the line with the amplitude 1-80 (µg.mL-1) of concentration and molar absorptivity of 2.4798×104 (L.mol-1.cm-1). Sandell's sensitivity & limit of detection values were 0.069 μg.cm-2 & 0.075μg.mL-1 respectively. The determination of sulfanilamide in synthesized sample & human urine can be successfully applied via the suggested mode.

Sulfanilamide concentration was determined by spectrophotometric mode. Sandell's sensitivity & limit of detection values were 0.069 μg.cm-2 & 0.075μg.mL-1 respectively. The determination of sulfanilamide in synthesized sample & human urine can be successfully applied via the suggested mode.
