Hubungan No Mobile Phone Phobia (Nomophobia) Dengan Regulasi Emosi Pada Remaja SMP Negeri 9 Kota Jambi
Background: Increasing smartphone use among adolescents may increase the risk of Nomophobia and potentially affect their ability to manage emotional responses. This condition is important because adolescence is a developmental period that requires good emotional regulation skills. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between Nomophobia and emotional regulation among adolescents at SMP Negeri 9 Kota Jambi. Methods: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 92 respondents selected using proportional stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) and analyzed using the Kendall’s tau test. Results: A total of 71 respondents (77.2%) had moderate levels of Nomophobia, while 63 respondents (68.5%) had moderate levels of emotional regulation. The Kendall’s tau test showed a p-value of 0.024 with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.168. Conclusion: Smartphone use among adolescents should be accompanied by good emotional management skills. Promotive and preventive efforts can be implemented through education on responsible smartphone use and strengthening emotional regulation by involving adolescents, families, and the school environment.
