Peran Motivasi terhadap Kemandirian Pasien Pasca Stroke dalam Pemenuhan Activity Daily Living (ADL)
Background: Stroke is a cerebrovascular disorder that occurs suddenly due to the interruption of blood flow to the brain, either because of ischemic obstruction or hemorrhage. This condition disrupts the supply of oxygen and nutrients to brain tissue, resulting in brain cell damage. One of the most common consequences is weakness on one side of the body, which may reduce a patient's ability to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADL) independently. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between motivation and the independence of post-stroke patients in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) at the Neurology Outpatient Clinic of Kendari City Regional General Hospital. Methods: This study employed a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 3,512 patients. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula, resulting in 97 respondents. Samples were selected using a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling method. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The results showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant relationship between motivation and the independence of post-stroke patients in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Conclusion: It can be concluded that higher levels of motivation are associated with greater independence among post-stroke patients in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
