Gasing Method in Critical Pedagogical Review

Mathematics education has often been associated with a negative stigma in the minds of learners. Mathematics plays a fundamental role in equipping students with essential life skills for the future. The thoughts and efforts made by academics to advance mathematics education in Indonesia include the implementation of the Gasing Method (Gampang, Asyik, Menyenangkan). However, the effectiveness of learning is not solely determined by the techniques used to deliver the material but must also align with fundamental pedagogical principles. The method should be congruent with Critical Pedagogical principles to ensure that learning is more meaningful and that conceptual understanding is enhanced. The aim of this research is to examine in depth the extent to which the Gasing Method can apply Critical Pedagogical principles and to identify the challenges faced in the implementation of the Gasing Method. The research was conducted using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology, employing the PRISMA protocol, which began with 254 identified data points, filtered down to 11 data points deemed valid for analysis. The analysis results indicate that the Gasing Method is highly relevant to Critical Pedagogical principles
