Responsible AI Leadership in Higher Education: Strategy, Engagement, and Institutional Climate
Responsible AI leadership in higher education is about more than choosing a tool. It means aligning AI initiatives with institutional mission, involving the people they affect, assigning clear accountability, and evaluating their impact on trust, fairness, workload, academic freedom, and campus relationships. This teaching document offers a practical framework for graduate students and higher education leaders, including a decision process and an AI advising-tool case study. The central question: How can institutions tell not only whether an AI initiative works, but whether it truly serves their campus community?
