Efektivitas Pemicuan Sanitasi Total Berbasis Masyarakat terhadap Perilaku Buang Air Besar Sembarangan dan Kualitas Sanitasi
Background: Stopping open defecation does not necessarily improve household sanitation quality, so community-led total sanitation triggering should be evaluated beyond open-defecation-free status. Objective: This study analysed the triggering process, changes in knowledge, attitude, behaviour, and household sanitation quality, and the relationship between behaviour and sanitation quality. Methods: A mixed-methods concurrent triangulation design was used. The quantitative component was a one-group quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test among 110 respondents in the service area of the Sukatani Community Health Center, Bekasi Regency, analysed with the Wilcoxon and Spearman tests. The qualitative component consisted of in-depth interviews with ten informants. Results: Knowledge, attitude, behaviour, and household sanitation scores increased significantly (p < 0.001); the sanitation score rose from 10.07 to 12.92. Behaviour was strongly correlated with sanitation quality both before (0.745) and after triggering (0.650). Conclusion: Awareness, family support, and the role of health cadres supported change, whereas long-standing habits, limited funds and land, and poor latrine conditions hindered it. Triggering was associated with improved behaviour and sanitation; continuous assistance and facility support should be strengthened
