Global Perspective in Education: Preparing Learners for a Globalized World

Abstract Globalization has changed the philosophy, structure and goals of education systems around the world in many ways. In the twenty-first century, education is no longer simply about the transfer of national knowledge and cultural heritage, but about equipping learners for an interdependent, multicultural, knowledge-rich global society. In an increasingly global world, in which global challenges like climate change, migration, economic inequality, digital transformation, pandemics and sustainable development necessitate the development of citizens who are globally competent, ethically responsible and socially conscious, it is the educational system's aim to foster such citizens. The conceptual study is an examination of the significance of incorporating global perspectives into contemporary education through analyzing international policies, theoretical models and educational practices. The study, based on literature from the UNESCO, OECD, the United Nations and leading educational scholars, will examine the concepts of global competence, intercultural understanding, digital literacy, sustainability education and global citizenship within the context of holistic learning. It also emphasizes the role of curriculum internationalization, innovative pedagogy, technological development, multilingual education and international cooperation in the process of educational transformation. According to the study, major obstacles to the implementation of global education are curriculum rigidity, inequity of access to technology, socio-economic gaps, poor teacher preparation, cultural opposition, and policy fragmentation. The results indicated that the inclusion of global perspectives in the learning process, fosters critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, ethical reasoning and lifelong learning, allowing students to be part of the sustainable, peaceful societies. The study concludes that Preparing Globally Competent Citizens is a must to meet the needs of the 21st century and realize Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
