MECHANISM FOR MANAGING UMRAH FINANCING FUNDS IN PERSPECTIVE SHARIA ECONOMIC LAW: (Case Study on Umrah Travel in Banda Aceh)

This study aims to analyze the fund management mechanism of umrah financing in travel agencies in Banda Aceh City and evaluate its compliance with Islamic economic law principles. This study is empirical legal research employing a socio-legal approach. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with umrah travel operators, while secondary data were derived from primary and secondary legal materials obtained through documentation and literature reviews. Data were analyzed using a descriptive-qualitative method. The results indicate that fund management is conducted through cash flow control that integrates pilgrims' funds with real business activities, financial planning, risk management, and reserve fund provision to sustain operations. From an Islamic economic law perspective, this mechanism is permissible provided it adheres to the principles of trust, fairness, transparency, religious protection, and is grounded in valid sharia contracts such as ijārah and wakālah bi al-ujrah. This study confirms that this fund management conceptually and legally differs from fraudulent financial schemes due to real business backing and regulatory compliance, although weak governance still poses potential risks of non-compliance.
