All Optical XOR Double Encryption and Decryption Using Two Keys for 128 Bit Data Packet at 10 Gbps Over 20 km Fiber

ABSTRACT The study investigates the implementation of a secure optical communication system using an all‐optical XOR‐based double encryption and decryption technique for 128‐bit data packets over 20 km of bidirectional optical fiber. The proposed method employs two unique encryption keys for enhanced security and utilizes highly nonlinear fibers (HNLFs) to facilitate XOR operations at a data rate of 10 Gbps. The system design is simulated using Optisystem software, with key metrics such as Bit Error Rate (BER) and output signal quality evaluated. Results confirm that the decrypted data matches the original transmitted information, demonstrating the robustness of the encryption mechanism. This research contributes to addressing security challenges in passive optical networks (PONs), ensuring data integrity and confidentiality during transmission.
