Estimating the potential for green hydrogen production from onshore and offshore wind power in Brazil — ENCIT 2026 poster

Conference poster for paper CIT26-0463, accepted for the 21st Brazilian Congress of Thermal Sciences and Engineering (ENCIT 2026), Santos, Brazil, November 8–12, 2026. The study estimates green hydrogen production potential from consolidated onshore wind generation in 2024, offshore projects undergoing environmental licensing, and unexploited onshore wind resources in six Brazilian states. It adopts a specific electricity consumption of 50 kWh/kg H2 and electricity allocation scenarios of 100%, 20%, 10%, 5% and 2%. At 2% allocation, the article reports approximately 41,000 t/year from onshore generation and 433,000 t/year from the offshore portfolio. Offshore estimates are conditional on project deployment. The article identifies overlapping restricted areas and limited wind data at higher altitudes as methodological limitations. The supporting figures are simplified vector visualisations of explicitly published numerical values. No original monthly electricity datasets, GIS layers or original calculation scripts are included.
