Colaboración interprofesional del personal de enfermería en unidades de cuidados intensivos adultos: revisión de alcance.

Interprofessional collaboration among nursing staff in intensive care units (ICUs) is defined as the process by which nurses and other healthcare professionals share information, responsibilities, and common goals to optimize the care of critically ill patients. This concept refers to the coordinated interaction that integrates the knowledge and skills of different disciplines, with an emphasis on communication, shared decision-making, and limiting barriers. This study is documentary and qualitative in nature and is based on a scoping review. The research was conducted following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines for the development of protocols and reporting of scoping reviews. The Joanna Briggs Institute methodology was used for evidence synthesis, applying the PCC framework to define the eligibility criteria. Intensive Care Units are characterized by the need to make frequent decisions regarding patient care and treatment due to the dynamic and often urgent changes required to preserve life; therefore, decision-making as an interprofessional activity is particularly relevant in this setting. The findings highlighted the importance of active communication in relation to the technical processes of critical care units, fostering a teamwork environment that ensures patient safety and reduces potential adverse events. This finding is consistent with Thethwayo et al. (2024), who emphasized the need to standardize inter-ICU communication indicators to measure the quality of care and the acceptance rate of interventions provided to patients with hemodynamic instability. Respect, effective communication, shared leadership, and role clarity were identified as the main factors that strengthen the multidisciplinary team, contributing to the improvement and optimization of clinical processes in the care of patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
