Examining Teachers’ Attitudes Towards Artificial Intelligence and Technostress Levels

Technostress refers to stress associated with the use of technology. Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to technologies that enable computer systems to perform tasks commonly associated with human intelligence. In recent years, AI has been used in many areas such as problem solving, speech processing, image recognition and image classification, and its use in education has become increasingly widespread. Against this background, the study examined teachers’ attitudes towards AI and their technostress levels. Within the scope of the research, a quantitative relational survey design was employed, and the sample consisted of 319 teachers working in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Türkiye. Data were collected using the General Attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence Scale (GAAIS) and the Teachers’ Techno-stress Levels Defining Scale (TTLDS). The findings revealed that teachers reported high levels of positive attitudes towards AI, moderate levels of negative attitudes, and moderate levels of technostress. The data analysis indicated a moderate positive relationship between teachers’ technostress levels and their general attitudes towards AI. In addition, teachers’ AI attitude scores differed significantly by education level and teaching branch but not by gender or age. It was also found that teachers’ scores on the technostress scale differed by gender, age and branch but not by education level.
