Conocimiento, actitudes y prácticas sobre dengue y enfermedades vectoriales en poblaciones rurales.

Dengue and other vector-borne diseases continue to be a public health problem today. In rural regions of tropical and subtropical areas, environmental, social, and schooling factors converge to provide optimal breeding sites for the mosquito vector, Aedes aegypti. The aim was to review knowledge, attitudes and practices towards dengue and vector-borne diseases in rural communities. An integrative bibliographic review, with descriptive approach and documentary design, was conducted. The search was performed on Google Scholar, PubMed, SciELO, Elsevier and Springer databases, considering studies published between 20 22 and 20 26, available in Spanish, English and Portuguese languages. Studies analyzing this population showed disparities between levels of knowledge. Favorable levels were observed in studies performed in Singapore and Peru and unsatisfactory or moderate levels in Nepal, Pakistan and Yemen. Additionally, determinant factors as poverty, not receiving formal education, poor water storage conditions, unplanned urbanization and scarce access to essential services were evidenced. For prevention methods, health education, elimination of breeding sites, solid waste management, disease surveillance and collective community work were the main interventions observed. To control Dengue, investment in community training, better environments and vector control actions based on rural area characteristics should be encouraged.
