Kombinasi Thermotherapy dan Aromaterapi Lavender untuk Menurunan Nyeri Dada Pasien Acute Coronary Syndrome
Background: Acute Coronary Syndrome is an acute myocardial ischemic condition that commonly presents with chest pain and requires prompt management in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit. Thermotherapy using a warm compress combined with lavender aromatherapy was applied as a complementary nursing intervention to reduce pain intensity and improve patient comfort. Objective: To analyze the application of combined warm compress therapy and lavender aromatherapy in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome and acute pain. Methods: This study used a descriptive case report design involving three patients managed in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit of Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Regional Hospital, Samarinda. A warm compress at 38–41°C was applied to the retrosternal area for 15–20 minutes, accompanied by inhalation of 2–3 drops of lavender essential oil on gauze, twice daily for three days. Pain intensity was assessed before and after each intervention using the Numeric Rating Scale. Results: Pain intensity gradually decreased in all three patients, with a one-level reduction at each observation session. The intervention was also accompanied by greater patient relaxation. Conclusion: The combination of thermotherapy and lavender aromatherapy may serve as a complementary approach to pain management in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome in intensive care.
