The Poetry of Saint Teresa of Avila as Translated in 1930s Brazil
Have you ever wondered how your favorite books and poems are translated? Ever wonder if something changed along the way? This project is designed to analyze the changes that take place during the process of translation and offer the audience an idea of how those changes can affect the tone, meaning, and context of a work. Looking specifically at Saint Teresa of Avila's poetry, this analysis aims to point out differences in the Spanish Silvério edition of her collected works and the translations created by nuns at the Convent of Saint Teresa of Jesus in early 1930's Brazil.
