THE APPLICATION OF AUDITORY, INTELLECTUALLY, REPETITION (AIR) LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE LISTENING SKILLS OF STUDENTS IN CLASS XII 1 MADRASAH ALIYAH NEGERI 1 MAMUJU

This research was to determine whether the application of the Auditory, Intellectually, Repetition (AIR) learning model could improve students’ listening skills. The dependent variable of this research was listening skill, while the independent variable was the AIR learning model. This study applied a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 32 students in class XII 1 selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through a listening test consisting of multiple-choice, true-false, and fill-in-the-blank questions. The research was carried out in five meetings: a pre-test, three treatments using the AIR model, and a post-test. The data were analyzed using mean score, standard deviation, percentage, and paired sample t-test with SPSS 22. The findings indicated that the students’ mean score increased from 47.15% in the pre-test to 71% in the post-test. The significance value was 0.000 < 0.05, and the t-test value (32.311) was higher than the t-table value (2.040). These results show that the Auditory, Intellectually, Repetition (AIR) learning model had a significant effect and successfully improved the listening skills of class XII 1 students at MAN 1 Mamuju.
