Measuring poverty requires an understanding of issues that transcend a purely economic character/nature. This article proposes the IPM-Trajectories, a poverty indicator for the Legal Amazon, based on the multidimensional approach proposed by Alkire-Foster. The deprivations for the urban and rural areas are considered in a differentiated way, based on the Census microdata in the dimensions of Health, Education, and Living Conditions. IPM-Trajectories is an initial effort that seeks to dialogue, from another perspective, with narratives that reinforce the idea of persistent and chronic poverty in the Amazon and the invisibility of the economies referred to as the biome.
