Federal Character Principle, Inclusive Governance and Administrative Efficiency in Nigeria's Public Sector: Implications for Peace and National Integration

The aim of this study was to explore the correlation between the Federal Character principle and administrative efficiency in the public sector of Nigeria. The study adopted a quantitative cross-sectional survey design. Results showed a strong positive link between Federal Character Principle implementation and administrative efficiency, implying that good representation mechanisms help to ensure institutional legitimacy and enhance organisational performance. The findings also revealed that equitable representation, fair recruitment practices, inclusiveness, and institutional compliance are significant predictors of administrative efficiency. The study demonstrates that the Federal Character Principle, if adopted with transparency, professionalism, accountability and good institutional structures, can be used as a diversity management mechanism and an administrative improvement strategy. The study suggests maximising the enforcement level of the rule and preserving balance between representational equity and merit-based public administration.
