Effect of Using MUSIC Model Based on Multimedia on Acquiring Geometrical Concepts among Basic Seventh Grade Female Students and their Motivation towards Geometry in Jordan

This study aimed to identify the effect of using the multimedia-based MUSIC model to teach geometry on the acquisition of geometric concepts and their generalizations among basic seventh-grade female students and their motivation towards the subject. The study used the quasi-experimental approach. To achieve the study objectives, the following tools were used: (Geometric Concepts Test and Motivation Scale towards Geometry) to collect data from the study sample, which consisted of (48) female students who were selected intentionally from seventh basic-grade female students. The sample was chosen from between the two classes by random assignment, as the experimental group consisted of (25) female students from the first class and the control group of (23) female students from the second class. The study showed: a statistically significant difference at the significance level (α = 0.05) between the mean scores of the students in the experimental group (who studied according to the MUSIC Model) and the scores of the students in the control group (who studied according to the traditional method) in acquiring geometric concepts. The differences were in favor of the experimental group. There were statistically significant differences between the post-test scores of the two groups. Reviewing the mean revealed that the differences favored the experimental group. Based on the results, the study recommended preparing teaching guides for instructors to teach geometry units according to the multimedia-based MUSIC Model and encouraging them to adopt it, holding training courses to familiarize teachers with the Model and train them to employ it in teaching, and giving attention to developing the ability to acquire geometric concepts across the different educational stages.

This study aimed to identify the effect of using the multimedia-based MUSIC model to teach geometry on the acquisition of geometric concepts and their generalizations among basic seventh-grade female students and their motivation towards the subject. The study used the quasi-experimental approach.
