Moral Disengagement and Attitudes Toward Others
Our aim with this research study is to examine a novel way to reduce prejudice toward Indigenous people in Canada. This new prejudice-reduction avenue involves educating people about moral disengagement. We will use Prolific to recruit a sample of 395 adult Canadians. Participants will be randomly assigned to the control or intervention group. Participants in the intervention group will complete a 3-pronged moral disengagement intervention: 1) Watch an educational video on moral disengagement, 2) identify moral disengagement strategies in a series of vignettes, and 3) respond to a self-reflection prompt. All participants will complete measures of moral disengagement, prejudice, and other relevant variables (including religiosity, moral identity, and inclusive victim consciousness).
