Incidence Rate and Risk Factors of Breast Cancer in Mammae Carcinoma Patients at Pasar Rebo Regional General Hospital, East Jakarta In 2025

ABSTRACT Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related morbidity and mortality among women worldwide, including in Indonesia. Several risk factors such as age, family history, hormonal contraceptive use, and dietary patterns have been associated with the occurrence of breast cancer. Understanding these factors is important to support prevention and early detection efforts. This study aimed to determine the incidence and risk factors of breast cancer among patients with carcinoma mammae at Pasar Rebo Regional General Hospital, East Jakarta, in 2025. This study used a quantitative observational design with a retrospective approach. Data were collected from medical records of patients diagnosed with breast carcinoma who were hospitalized at Pasar Rebo Regional General Hospital from January to December 2025. The sampling technique used was total sampling, and all eligible patients were included in the study. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods and presented in the form of frequency distributions and percentages. A total of 29 patients diagnosed with carcinoma mammae were included in the study. The findings showed that age was significantly associated with the incidence of breast cancer, with most patients belonging to the high-risk age group. A history of mammary carcinoma was also significantly related to breast cancer occurrence. In addition, hormonal contraceptive use showed a significant association with breast cancer incidence. Saturated fat intake and obesity were identified as important risk factors, indicating that excessive consumption of saturated fat may contribute to an increased risk of breast cancer. Age, history of carcinoma mammae, hormonal contraceptive use, and saturated fat intake were identified as significant risk factors associated with breast cancer incidence among patients with carcinoma mammae at Pasar Rebo Regional General Hospital in 2025. These findings highlight the importance of early detection, risk factor modification, and health education to reduce the burden of breast cancer. Keywords: Breast Cancer, Mammary Carcinoma, Risk Factors, Hormonal Contraception, Saturated Fat Intake.
