Desafios da área hospitalar no atendimento às mulheres vítimas de violência doméstica

Violence against women constitutes a serious violation of human rights and a significant public health problem, with physical, psychological, and social repercussions. As one of the main entry points into the healthcare system, the hospital environment represents a strategic setting for the identification, reception, and appropriate referral of women experiencing domestic violence. This study aimed to analyze how hospital services identify, receive, and refer these women, as well as to understand the main challenges faced throughout this process. The research adopts a qualitative and bibliographic approach. The expected results highlight the need for greater training of healthcare teams, the development of specific protocols, and the strengthening of coordination with the network of services dedicated to protecting women. Hospitals should act not only as places for clinical treatment but also as spaces for listening, welcoming, and promoting women's citizenship, thereby contributing to efforts to address gender-based violence in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 – Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 5 – Gender Equality.
