Taking Manual: An AI-Powered Industrial Copilot
Talking Manual is an AI-powered industrial maintenance assistant designed to help technicians troubleshoot machinery efficiently. It provides a machine-specific knowledge base using equipment manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), wiring diagrams and maintenance logs. The system uses Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to retrieve relevant information and generate context-based responses. It incorporates document processing, OCR, hybrid search, vector databases and large language models. It also introduces Grease Mode, a hands-free interface that uses voice commands and hand gestures, allowing technicians to interact with the system without touching the screen. A dynamic diagnostic checklist helps technicians follow troubleshooting steps and track their progress. The proposed system aims to reduce machine downtime, improve maintenance efficiency and provide accessible AI-based technical assistance in industrial environments.
