Contribution of centrosymmetric lattice parameters to impeller response
This study investigates the mechanical response of centrosymmetric lattice-filled compressor impellers under inertial and combined inertial/aerodynamic loading. A multiscale homogenization framework is developed, and the effects of lattice configuration, volume fraction, and loading conditions are systematically examined. The centrosymmetric lattice reduces maximum deformation by approximately 25.5% and peak stress by approximately 42.2% compared to the parallel-array configuration, while achieving superior circumferential uniformity. For the full impeller, aerodynamic pressure reduces deformation and stress by only about 1.3% and 1.0%, respectively, indicating that inertia-only analysis is mildly conservative. A local minimum in the sampled volume-fraction range shifts from 14% under inertia-only loading to 22% under combined inertial/aerodynamic loading; this is a local minimum within the sampled range rather than a formal optimization result. These findings provide practical guidelines for the lightweight design of high-performance impellers.
