Membangun Kemampuan Menulis Siswa Melalui Penguatan Literasi Bahasa

Writing is an important language skill because it allows students to convey their ideas, experiences, and opinions. However, many students still struggle to initiate writing, develop ideas, choose words, construct effective sentences, and construct coherent paragraphs. These difficulties are related to students' low literacy skills and to learning that often separates reading from writing. This article aims to explain the role of strengthening language literacy in developing students' writing skills and to formulate strategies that teachers can implement by linking literacy activities to the three phases of the writing process according to Flower and Hayes: planning, generating ideas, and reviewing. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach based on literature review. Data were obtained from books, scientific articles, and academic sources relevant to language literacy and writing skills. The results indicate that reading model texts, discussing ideas, and noting ideas support the planning stage; vocabulary enrichment and gradual writing exercises support the generating ideas stage; and feedback and revision support the review stage. Therefore, language literacy needs to be continuously integrated into writing lessons so that students write more purposefully, critically, creatively, and in accordance with Indonesian language rules.
