First person – Natalie Kirkland

First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Natalie Kirkland is first author on ‘ Visualizing the epigenetic landscape of aging and cellular reprogramming – optimized ATAC-see for cells and tissues’ and ‘ Targeted ATAC-see – a visual assay for target-specific chromatin profiling’, published in JCS. Natalie conducted the research described in this article while a Scientist II in Zach Levine's lab at Altos Labs, San Diego Institute, USA. She is now a Project Scientist in the lab of Adam Engler and Zeinab Jahed at University of California San Diego, La Jolla, USA, investigating the role of age- and disease-associated nuclear remodeling.
