The article substantiates the methodology for developing health-preserving and health-developing competencies in future physical education and sports specialists as an important component of their professional training under the conditions of modern higher education. The relevance of the study is due to the need to train competitive specialists who are able to effectively implement health-preserving and health-developing activities, apply modern physical education and health-improving technologies, organize a safe educational and sports environment, and promote the health of various categories of the population. The purpose of the study is to provide theoretical justification and develop a methodology for the formation of health-preserving and health-developing competencies in future physical education and sports specialists during professional training. In the process of the study, a set of complementary methods was used: analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization of scientific sources, comparison, modeling, and pedagogical design. The developed methodology is based on competency-based, activity-based, personality-oriented, systemic, and practice-oriented approaches and includes target-, content-, organizational-process-, and result-based components. The content of each component is determined, the features of integrating health-preserving issues into professional training disciplines are revealed, and the feasibility of using traditional and innovative forms, interactive methods, case technologies, project activities, digital learning tools, and professional practice is substantiated. It has been established that the effectiveness of the formation of the studied competencies is ensured by the comprehensive use of information-methodological, practice-activity, digital-diagnostic, professional-practical, and reflective-research learning tools that contribute to the development of professional knowledge, practical skills, motivation for a healthy lifestyle, the ability to monitor physical condition, design individual health programs, and apply modern health-preserving and health-developing technologies in professional activities. The scientific novelty of the study lies in substantiating the structure and content of the methodology for the formation of health-preserving and health-developing competencies of future specialists in physical culture and sports, determining the relationship of its components, and systematizing pedagogical tools that ensure the effectiveness of professional training. The practical significance of the research results lies in the possibility of using the proposed methodology to improve educational programs, educational and methodological support, and the organization of professional training for higher education applicants in the specialties of the field of physical culture and sports.
