Location Analytics for Forestry Insurance

Following an introduction to the function of ForestRe Ltd as consultants on climate risk in forestry, Yuming Zhi went on to discuss what earth observation (EO) data is used and the methodology to profile forest risk. Using EO data ForestRe measures plantation area, land cover type and burn scars. Burnscars need careful analysis to exclude 'good' fires that prevent further and bigger fires. To assess damage in wind Yuming describes the use of NVDI with examples. The sequence of the full and current data analysis is provided as a guide to the EO data used.
