DETERMINANTS OF GAMING LAPTOP PRICES IN UZBEKISTAN: THE ROLE OF HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS AND BRAND
This study examines how hardware specifications, brand, and product condition are related to the advertised prices of gaming laptops in Uzbekistan. Data are collected from online listings on platforms such as OLX and ASAXIY. A hedonic pricing model is applied to examine the relationship between advertised price and characteristics such as GPU model, processor, RAM capacity, storage capacity, better display, and well-known gaming brands to be associated with higher prices. The natural logarithm of the advertised price in UZS is used as the dependent variable, and the model is estimated using ordinary least squares (OLS) regression with robust standard errors. The study expects higher-tier GPUs, stronger processors, larger RAM and storage capacities, better displays, and well-known gaming brands to be associated with higher prices. Used laptops are expected to have lower prices than new ones. Since the study is based on observational listing data, the results show associations between characteristics and prices rather than direct causal effects.
