Children Bear the Burden: Communicable Disease Patterns Among Children in Primary Healthcare Facilities in Gaza
This facility-based analysis describes communicable disease patterns recorded at 13 MAP-supported primary healthcare facilities in Gaza between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2026, using routine Early Warning, Alert and Response System (EWARS) data. Of 98,478 consultations analysed, the most frequently recorded conditions were skin diseases (12.9%), acute respiratory infections (7.3%) and acute watery diarrhoea (6.0%). Children aged 0–18 accounted for 77.0%, 61.0% and 58.9% of these consultations respectively. Skin diseases peaked in spring, acute watery diarrhoea in summer, and acute respiratory infections in winter and summer. Skin disease was recorded in 15% of consultations among people living in tents or camps, compared with 9.9% among those in buildings. Findings reflect consultations, not disease prevalence.
