Efeitos da fisioterapia pélvica no controle urinário de crianças com bexiga neurogênica secundária a espinha bífida: revisão de literatura
Introduction: Spina bifida is a congenital neural tube defect that can lead to neurological and functional impairments, including neurogenic bladder; this condition can compromise children’s social participation and quality of life. Objective: To analyze the effects of pelvic floor physical therapy interventions on urinary control in children with neurogenic bladder secondary to spina bifida. Materials and Methods: This is a qualitative and descriptive literature review conducted via a bibliographic search in the PubMed, LILACS, and PEDro databases, covering studies published between 2020 and 2025 in Portuguese and English. Selection was based on the reading of titles, abstracts, and full texts. Findings: The findings demonstrated promising results from pelvic floor physical therapy interventions, particularly through electrostimulation, pelvic floor kinesiotherapy, and biofeedback. Scientific Contribution: The study contributes to expanding scientific knowledge regarding the use of pelvic floor physical therapy in managing urinary dysfunction in children with neurogenic bladder secondary to spina bifida. Conclusion: It is concluded that pelvic floor physical therapy shows potential as a complementary resource in the treatment of children with neurogenic bladder secondary to spina bifida, potentially contributing to improved urinary function.
