Participatory Marine Geospatial Intelligence for Sustainable Marine Spatial Planning

Coastal areas are experiencing increasing pressures from environmental changes and intensified human activities, highlighting the need for integrated approaches that combine remote sensing, geographic information systems, and local knowledge to support sustainable coastal spatial planning. This study aims to examine the integration of geospatial information and community perspectives in developing a participatory marine geospatial intelligence framework for coastal management in the Pelabuhanratu coastal area, Sukabumi, Indonesia. A mixed-method approach was employed through surveys involving 120 coastal community respondents and in-depth interviews with 20 key informants representing relevant stakeholders. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, stakeholder analysis, and spatial information interpretation from remote sensing and GIS-based datasets. The findings indicate that environmental awareness obtained the highest perception score (mean = 4.32), while stakeholder interviews highlighted the need for integrated coastal information systems.
