A COMPREHENSIVE LITERARY STUDY OF LANGHAN AND ITS APPLICATION IN LANGHAN YOGYA VYADHIS: A PROTOCOL ARTICLE

Background: Ayurveda considers health to depend on proper balance of Dosha, Dhatu and Mala. Langhana is included among the Shadvidha Upakrama described by Acharya Charaka.[2] Its main purpose is to bring lightness in the body and reduce excessive or aggravated factors, especially in conditions related to Santarpana. Rationale: Information about Langhana is available in different Ayurvedic classical texts, but it is spread across many sections. Some methods, particularly Upavasa and Vyayama, have less detailed descriptions. A clear compilation of their indications, contraindications and disease-wise use is therefore needed. Aim: To study the concept of Langhana in Ayurvedic literature in a comprehensive manner and to examine its use in Langhana-yogya Vyadhis. Methodology: This will be a qualitative, descriptive, analytical and comparative literary study. Selected classical Ayurvedic texts and relevant peer-reviewed publications will be reviewed systematically. Information related to the definition, types, actions, indications, contraindications and Langhana-yogya Vyadhis will be collected, compared and organized. Expected outcome: The study is expected to provide a clear account of Langhana from classical sources, a diseasewise framework for its application and identification of areas where the available literature is limited.
