Sistemas de producción cafetera y su contribución a la adaptación al cambio climático en la vereda San Martín (La Plata, Huila, Colombia)

This study analyzes the contribution of coffee production systems in the vereda of San Martín, La Plata (Huila, Colombia), to climate change adaptation. A qualitative-descriptive approach was employed, using semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and documentary review to characterize coffee production systems, identify adaptive agronomic practices, and develop integrated management guidelines. The analysis was conducted using qualitative matrices through coding, categorization, and synthesis, with Microsoft Excel used as a support tool for data systematization and source triangulation. The findings indicate that agroforestry diversification, sustainable soil and water management, the selection of resistant varieties, and ecological pest management are important practices for strengthening the resilience of coffee production systems to climate variability. The Adaptive Coffee Agroforestry System is proposed as an integrated model that combines agronomic practices, environmental management, and organizational processes. This proposal contributes to understanding adaptation and sustainability in coffee farming and may provide a basis for the development of rural extension strategies and locally oriented policies. The findings also highlight the importance of integrating economic viability, environmental assessment, and social innovation, while recognizing community capacity building as a strategic component of coffee sustainability.
