EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF EMPLOYEES IN IT COMPANIES AT COIMBATORE CITY
Emotional intelligence (EI) is an important interpersonal and intrapersonal capability in contemporary workplaces. Employees in information technology (IT) companies regularly coordinate with project teams, respond to client expectations, manage deadlines, and adapt to technological and organisational change. These demands make emotional awareness, self-regulation, empathy, motivation, and relationship management relevant to effective workplace functioning. This paper proposes a descriptive study of emotional intelligence among employees working in IT companies in Coimbatore City. It outlines the conceptual foundations of EI, reviews selected literature, and presents objectives, research questions, hypotheses, and a feasible survey methodology. A structured questionnaire may be administered to employees across job roles and experience levels. Descriptive statistics can be used to assess overall EI and its dimensions, while suitable tests may examine differences by demographic and work-related characteristics. As primary data have not been supplied for this draft, no empirical findings or statistical significance claims are presented. The paper provides a research framework for understanding employees’ emotional competencies and identifying practical opportunities for employee development and supportive human-resource practices.
