Glaziou and Burle Marx
When we consider some of nowadays sustainable ideals of landscape architecture, we find out that Glaziou and Burle Marx were men ahead of their time. Both of them began to use and spread the use of native vegetation, introducing into their design some tropical plants that were not valued at the time and were absent in Brazilian gardens; while Glaziou participated in Brazil's first reforestation project in the mid-19th century, Burle Marx spread his concern about deforestation and its environmental risks in the following century; both designed spaces that can be used by all people nowadays; both were aware of the importance of Brazilian native flora. In this way, these landscapers left important lessons for the development of sustainable landscaping in Brazil.
