Advanced Diabetes Mellitus: A Bibliometric Analysis of The Global Research Landscape
Advanced diabetes mellitus (ADM) represents a progressive stage of diabetes characterized by severe multisystem complications that significantly impair quality of life and clinical outcomes. The growing prevalence and complexity of ADM highlight the need for an evidence-based understanding of research trends to guide future clinical and policy development. This study aims to map the global research landscape on ADM, evaluate its scholarly evolution, and identify emerging gaps and opportunities for future investigation. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Scopus database, employing VOSViewer to visualize citation networks, co-authorships, and keyword co-occurrences. Articles published up to October 2025 containing the terms “Advanced Diabetes Mellitus,” “end-stage diabetes mellitus,” or “diabetes with complications” were included following PRISMA guidelines. The study analysed 85 relevant publications, revealing a marked rise in ADM research since 2015, with the United States leading global output. Research trends predominantly focus on metabolic complications, comorbidities, and epidemiological analyses, while areas such as digital health, artificial intelligence, genomics, and precision medicine remain underexplored. Advanced diabetes mellitus has emerged as a critical and rapidly developing research focus within the scientific community. The topic of advanced diabetes mellitus has a significant growth trend in research publications. Future work should foster interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered approaches to strengthen evidence-based management and global health strategies. Keywords : Advanced Diabetes Mellitus, Bibliometric Analysis, Research Trends, Chronic Disease, Global Health.
