Bridging Global Evidence and Local Realities: A Contextual Psychological Conditioning Model for Secondary School Netball Players in Zimbabwe

This systematic review examined Mental Skills Training (MST) programmes implemented in team sports globally to inform the development of a contextually appropriate intervention for secondary school netball players in Matabeleland North Province, Zimbabwe. The review forms the foundational phase of a broader programme aimed at designing and contextualising MST approaches for school-based netball performance enhancement. A systematic search was conducted across PubMed, PsycINFO, SPORTDiscus, Elsevier, and Google Scholar using terms related to mental skills training, psychological skills interventions, team sports, and performance outcomes. Eligible studies were peer-reviewed, published in English, involved team sport athletes, implemented defined MST intervention (unimodal or multimodal), and reported psychological or performance-related outcomes. The review followed PRISMA guidelines.
