Cychlorphine, opioid analog, presents new threat
Cychlorphine is a synthetic opioid which presents a new threat to public health. In the Journal of Pain Research , a study published in July highlights the lethality of a recent wave of nitazenes. First synthesized in the 1950s but never approved for medical use, these potent 2‐benzylbenzimidazole opioids have seen a sharp rise in analogs after scheduling by the Chinese government in July 2025. Nitazenes went down, but the analogs went up.
