Teaching Organizational Structure Through Origami
Organizational structure plays an important role in determining organizational effectiveness. Therefore, knowledge of organizational structure and design is essential for a management student. However, the perceived abstractness of the topic makes it less interesting for students. Origami exercise creates an experiential setting to familiarize students with organizational structure and design concepts. This exercise helps students understand the concepts of task division, task allocation, and resource utilization. Debriefing recommendations are included to help instructors link learning from the exercise to organization design concepts.
