Toward an Intelligent Legal Education Simulator for Medical Negligence Litigation in India: A Hybrid AI/ML Framework and System Design

Medical negligence disputes in India are increasing in volume and complexity, yet the legal frameworks governing them remain fragmented with no dedicated statute or IPC provision. Law students often struggle to understand how to construct pleadings, structure evidence, and apply judicial reasoning. This paper presents (i) a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art automated legal judgment prediction, explainable AI systems, and domain-specific retrieval tools, and (ii) a conceptual design of an Intelligent Medical-Negligence Litigation Simulator (IMN-LS) tailored for Indian legal education. The proposed framework integrates retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), long-context transformer models, medical NER/event extraction, and probabilistic evidence reasoning. The paper maps datasets, engineering challenges, and ethical considerations, and outlines a research agenda for deploying intelligent simulators in Indian legal institutions. This work contributes both to Intelligent Systems and E-Governance, offering a blueprint for future AI-supported legal education ecosystems.
